“Get up! Cry out in the night, at the beginning of every watch!”
In reading Lamentations 2, I crashed into verse 19. My heart was wrecked as I could see the Lord’s hand in the unthinkable acts of October 7th.
Amidst the horror and grief outlined in this chapter, I found a command for the intercessor. “Get up! Cry out in the night, at the beginning of every watch!
I felt the cavernous impression that it is our job to be on constant alert, praying and interceding for not only Israel, but the nations as well.
The state of the Jewish people should be of the utmost import to believers in the rest of the world. The Messiah coming to the Jews first and the gentiles afterward gives us God’s pattern for Israel’s disseminating influence. What the parent does in moderation, the children do in excess. The Jews are our spiritual parents. What they allow – good or bad becomes our addiction. In the natural, it makes little sense that a country the size of New Jersey would decide the collective fate of the nations that dwarf her, but as with David’s conquest over Goliath, we see that God’s ways are beyond our feeble understanding.
Praying as Jesus told us, that the Father would send more workers is paramount in this hour. Our King is coming for His spotless Bride not Hosea’s prostitute. So, while Aliyah is our end goal, our interim prayers should also contain a strong petition for the deplorable state of the American church. That they would wake up to the truth of their calling before it’s taken from them. That the Lord would continue to scrub the church clean from the inside out. Removing every blemish so that they can be an effective witness for their KING. Gaining His heart for His people.
Sending workers into the field might look more like Him raising up intercessors to pray not only for the peace of Jerusalem, but their repentance and turning to Him as Lord and Savior across the globe. Lord that they might be submerged in YOUR LOVE, understanding that Jesus is the Messiah and Your perfect plan might be for them to surrender to Your process of redemption through Christ before returning to the land. Could it be that their healing of generational trauma and their turning to Messiah before Aliyah might make them of greater use to You than bringing their baggage with them?
Either way Father, we pray for their hearts to be changed by the overwhelming LOVE of the Lord in Jesus name! And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. Wake the dead in the American church, Lord, in Jesus’ name!
Our Father doesn’t talk just to hear Himself talk. His Word never returns void. Having been founded on God’s Word. America holds one of the keys to Messiah’s return. Regardless of any personal beliefs held about either of these countries, we must conclude that these two Nations are spiritually intertwined.
I’ve heard it said that, as Israel goes so goes the nations. I’ve also heard this about the US. I think both are true for different reasons. Israel is to lead the Nations spiritually and the US has great influence through their economy and the church. Both Nations are in peril. Both are being attacked by our adversary in different ways.
I know it can’t be lost on anyone that the US elections will determine the course of that Nation – good or bad. It will greatly affect the aid sent to Israel from governmental and private sources. I understand the crippling effect of the limitation put in place by the Egyptian accords, but if nothing else, America provides a strong platform for the Aliyah of the over 5.7 million Jewish residence who currently call the US home.
What in the world does this have to do with Lamentations, verse 2:19 specifically? What the Lord has already begun in Israel as an instrument of repentance, He will also do in the US. At the end of the day America’s financial state, their freedoms and the sad state of her believers directly effects God’s plan for the Jews to return. Even if they choose to stay, their safety is riding on the outcome of these elections. If Aliyah is to continue for those 5.7 million Jewish Americans, the American gateway needs to be propped open by the watchmen through our prayers and intercession.
