Day Fourteen

Chosen
1 Thessalonians 1:4 AMP

Brothers and sisters beloved by God, we know that He has chosen you; for our good news [regarding salvation] came to you not only in word, but also in [its inherent] power and in the Holy Spirit and with great conviction [on our part].

Pretty much every Christian today has at least heard of the series The Chosen. I’ve often thought what a powerful title that is. Our world consists of people whose core desire is to feel a sense of belonging. Maybe that’s you. I know for sure that’s the way I’m wired.

Not to bring up a sore subject, but our world’s reaction to Covid cut off the vehicles we used to connect and belong almost overnight. We’ve never fully recovered. This may actually be a good thing. It’s caused many of us to reconsider the validity of those touchpoints. I’ve begun to ask myself, “Does this still serve me?” In reevaluating whether or not something is serving me I am giving myself permission to choose what I allow to speak into my life, right, I get to choose or not choose certain aspects to continue to influence me. In a similar manor God CHOSE me.

CHOOSE

choo͞z

intransitive verb (it’s an action)

  1. To select from a number of possible alternatives; decide on and pick out.
  2. To prefer above others.
  3. To determine or decide.

To prefer above others. In this very simple statement. My God made the conscious decision to prefer me above others.  I am His child, and He is committed to me. To provide and protect me like no other I’ve ever known! I have His Word throughout scripture that He will never leave me. There is soooo much written evidence of this! He will not forsake me; He will sustain me and defend me.

Today, and every time I hear a thought in my own head that contradicts what God says about Himself and about me, let me CHOOSE to cling to the promises defining my inheritance in Christ rather than choose to believe the lies whispered in the dark recesses of my mind. You’ve probably heard that love is a choice. What we focus on is also a choice. We have the ability to choose what dominates our thoughts. Let the Words of Christ dominate me today!
